The 5 Carat Ball, an energetic evening of Charity, Cuisine, Couture, Carats and Champagne, began Thursday, May 21, with pictures at the Windstream photo wall as guests entered the Statehouse Convention Center. Guests then could enjoy a Calm Before the Storm martini (a lemon basil concoction), all part of the Windstream Lifeline Reception.

In addition to lots of socializing, supporters bid on designer items at the Dillard's Style of Your Life 5 Carat Boutique, with everything from handbags to cologne baskets to hotel getaway packages.

The Shiseido Lipstick Station provided the perfect touch for last minute perfection before entering the ballroom.

Jason Harper, formerly of KATV Channel 7, now host of the most watched weekly syndicated outdoor sports show in the world, FLW Outdoors (more than half a billion people watch), guided Red Cross supporters through an evening of fine dining featuring wines from Glazer's Distributors of Arkansas.

Possibly better than the fabulous Red Cross Strawberry Shortcake by the Peabody Little Rock, was the raffling of a Francesco Biasia handbag valued at $2,500. To say that winner Stacy-Lynn Hobby of North Little Rock was excited would be an understatement.

After dinner, the live auction presented all with a chance to buy dinner for 10 at 1620 Restaurant; a Pat Matthews oil painting of the State of Arkansas flag; an Eli Jewels baroque pearl necklace from Kenneth Edwards Fine Jewelry; a VIP NASCAR weekend at the Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway by Windstream; the VIP suite for the Dallas Cowboys-Tennessee Titans game; or a seven-day stay in a three-bedroom condo at your choice of a Ritz Carlton Luxury Club. Bidding was quick, the winners left happy and the Chapter received critical funds for local disaster response.

The evening concluded with a spirited New York Fashion Week style show exclusively by BCBGMAXAZRIA.
